In today’s fast-paced digital world, where opinions are shared instantly across social media platforms, it’s easy for voices to get lost in the noise. But every once in a while, an opportunity arises to make your thoughts heard on a larger scale. One such moment for me came when my comment on a Times of India article was published — and I couldn’t be more grateful.

🗞️ The Article: "Want to bring Disneyland to Gurgaon"

The article in question discussed the ambitious plans of the Haryana government to build a 500-acre Disneyland-style theme park in Manesar, Gurugram. While such projects promise to bring economic growth, tourism, and jobs, I found myself questioning the larger picture. Should entertainment projects be prioritized when many people in India still struggle for the basics like housing, education, and healthcare?

💭 My Thoughts: Disneyland vs. Development

Here’s the comment that was featured:

“Entertainment is important, but not at the cost of essentials. If the government wants to build a Disneyland, it should also commit equal or more investment in public housing, education, skill training, and healthcare. India is a growing country, but our growth should first uplift the poor, not just impress the rich or tourists.”

My comment was based on the idea that development shouldn’t just be about showcase projects that boost tourism or make a city look "modern." True progress involves uplifting those at the bottom, ensuring they have access to basic necessities before anything else.

Having my comment published on The Times of India was not just a proud moment — it was a recognition that my voice, as a young student and future public servant, mattered. This is a reminder that thoughtful commentary can make a real difference.

It's easy to feel that our opinions are too small to be heard, especially in a country as diverse and vast as India. But this experience has taught me that even the smallest of actions — like writing a well-thought-out comment — can lead to a much larger conversation. It felt empowering to know that a national platform like TOI valued my thoughts and shared them with the public.
